System Design for Efficient Protection of the Pharmaceutical Supply Chain



The focus of the interdisciplinary research project „SafeMed - System Design for Efficient Protection of the Pharmaceutical Supply Chain“ is on securing a sufficient public provision of pharmaceutical products and trying to avoid drug shortages as experienced in the last years more often. The project is connected to the programme "Research for Civil Security" funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and part of the programme "Securing commodity chains" of the VDI Technology Centre.

SafeMed concentrates on external hazards with the potential to threaten the performance of the highly regulated pharma supply chain. Hazard scenarios were developed using CIB and other methods. Based on the hazard scenarios proactive and reactive measures will be developed to ensure the functional reliability of the pharma supply chain.
